During 1996–99 under the Shiv Sena-BJP government, Nitin Gadkari then the PWD minister took on the task of the Mumbai Pune Expressway and the construction of 55 highways in Mumbai cities, particularly along the two highways. Failed Attempts to close or Shift Dahisar toll Naka:

Aug 2019, MP Gopal Shetty, who represents Mumbai North where Dahisar falls, told DNA that –

“I am confident that by Diwali (2019), the toll plaza will be shifted further to the old octroi naka, which will bring a huge respite to several people in Dahisar and Borivali. I have been constantly following up on this issue for the past few months,” He said he had a detailed discussion with road minister Nitin Gadkari. “He clearly told me that if it was in his hands, he would have done it immediately. But it is up to the state government. I will be soon meeting revenue minister Chandrakant Patil to get the work of shifting the toll plaza completed,” he said.

On 11 Aug 2018, Geeta B Jain Ex-Mayor of MBMC (now MLA), surprised everyone by announcing Shifting of Dahisar toll naka out of the city. In her tweets, She said –

“Mira road toll free very soon thank you gopal shetty ji and central minister Nitin Gadkariji”. She also thanks Road Transport & Highways Minister Shri. Nitin Gadkari & MP from Mumbai North Shri. Gopal Shetty for this work.

Unfortunately no new media house confirmed this news. It looks like just another “political promise”.
